As a dance photographer, I am in constant pursuit of just one thing: that fraction of a second when the movement, the line, the lighting and the expression all combine in a perfect harmony.
I call these fleeting miracles ‘moments of transcendence.’
They are elusive and difficult to achieve and so my role as the photographer comes down to this:
-Push to find the best pose and/or movement for each artist and then simplify that down to it's essence.
-Light each movement as beautifully as is possible.
- Keep shooting. You never know when magic will happen... so the only way to ensure that it does is to just keep at it. This way, you're always in the room when lighting strikes.
